Digital signage consists of electronic displays, typically either plasma, LCD or holographic projection screens that are installed in corporate, business and public spaces. Digital signs are typically used to entertain, inform or advertise. Major benefits of digital signs over traditional static signs are that the content can be changed as often as needed and with little effort and can adapt to the context and audience, and even be interactive. Digital signage content can include video, animation, live RSS news and weather feeds, corporate presentations or reception area welcome messages.
It is possible to display different information on each of any number of screens. Where different content is needed, it can be targeted specifically (e.g. to a staff collection point such as a restaurant or cafe, and could display corporate intranet information and live TV, whereas a reception screen would show corporate welcome messages and information about the company.
